What is Dyed Polyester Fabric?

Dyed polyester fabric is a synthetic textile made from 100% polyester fibers that has been colored through a heat-based dyeing process.

Unlike natural fibers, polyester requires disperse dyes and high-temperature conditions to properly absorb color. The result is a fabric that offers vibrant, long-lasting hues, excellent wrinkle resistance, and easy maintenance.

This type of fabric is widely used in bedding and home textiles due to its durability, color fastness, and affordable cost.

Whether brushed for softness or woven for strength, dyed polyester is a versatile material that balances comfort with performance.

FAQs About Dyed Polyester Fabric

Does dyed polyester fabric shrink?

Generally, polyester is shrink-resistant, especially after heat-setting during dyeing.

However, excessive heat (like hot drying) may cause minimal shrinkage, so it’s best to use low-heat settings.

Standard dyed polyester may fade under direct sunlight or with bleach exposure. For high UV-resistance, solution-dyed polyester is recommended, which locks the color into the fiber.

Polyester is typically dyed using disperse dyes in a high-temperature, high-pressure environment. Some fabrics are solution-dyed, where color is added during the fiber manufacturing stage for superior colorfastness.
